ABSTRACT
Multimedia in any viable form fi rst began to be used on PCs in the mid-1990s with the growth of CD-ROM and the emergence of video cards that could handle compressed MPEG video as well as 16-bit sound (which moved towards more realistic audio sampling), with rapid developments in DVD technology in particular.
