ABSTRACT
The Bichard Inquiry was a government-initiated investigation following the conviction of Ian Huntley in 2003 for the murders of two 10-year-old girls the previous year. Its critical findings have significance for the national dimension of policing and for the operation of the tripartite structure of police accountability.
