ABSTRACT
This chapter describes the transition policies and procedures of Derby City Special Educational Needs Support Service (SENSS) for children who have an identified special need and who have received preschool support moving into their first placement in a maintained setting. This may be a nursery class, nursery school or reception class, but the procedures essentially remain the same. It attempts to explain the essential features of the transition process and how these have developed.
