ABSTRACT
Transition was one of the themes of the research project described in this book. It was noticeable, as the project progressed, that this theme not only implied a focus on children starting their school lives but also a focus on children as research participants. This meant that the original research questions were superseded by another question which became more important and informed the second of two original questions. This was:
● What does participation mean in a reception class?
