ABSTRACT

No one really enjoys sitting exams - apart perhaps from those who may be naturally good at passing them! Certainly, for most students the thought of being tested, judged and perhaps falling short of the mark evokes feelings of trepidation and anxiety. However, despite those feelings, which are experienced by teachers as well as students when 'put on the spot', there are tried and trusted techniques you can learn that will minimise your anxieties and maximise your chances of success in examinations. This chapter considers the nature and purpose of exams, and methods of organising your time and study materials to make revision a more effective and less arduous experience.
