ABSTRACT

Before considering some of the issues related to assessment at Key Stage 4, it is important to examine briefly the wider curriculum context. This book has followed the structure indicated by the National Curriculum in that separate chapters have been devoted to Key Stage 4 and post-16 teaching. It is important however to be aware of the increasing tendency for policymakers to think in terms of the 14-19 curriculum and that fundamental reform of the examination system at this level seems likely in the future.
