ABSTRACT

Documentation underpins the whole approach to understanding young children’s learning in the preschools and infant-toddler centres of Reggio Emilia. It is seen a way of listening to, respecting and supporting individuals in their search to make meaning of the world (Rinaldi 1998: 113). It requires sensitivity to different forms of expression and behaviour, observing with all the senses, and sharing and interpreting these observations with others (Rinaldi 1999: 9; 2001: 78).
