ABSTRACT

In the twenty-first century , computer technology has not only introduced a whole new teaching environment, the online classroom, it has also launched a new type of course, the blended or hybrid class, and transformed how we can teach face-to-face classes. In a blended or hybrid class, which combines traditional face-to-face teaching with online learning, classroom time is reduced, but not eliminated, and a substantial proportion of the content is replaced by online activities. In contrast, in a traditional face-to-face class that incorporates online components, the classroom remains the main focus of teaching. In both cases, the use of the CMS allows instructors to extend learning beyond the classroom walls and provide students with a greater variety, and often far superior, resources to work with.
