ABSTRACT
The El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) cycle of alternating warm (El Nino) and cold (La Nina) events in the tropical Pacific is the dominant interannual climate variation on earth. It is a naturally occurring ocean-atmosphere interaction which results in a 2-7 year cyclical fluctuation of atmospheric and oceanic temperature and circulation patterns in the Pacific Ocean.
