ABSTRACT
Extreme weather events are climatic episodes that exhibit significant variation from average climatic conditions. These events can take many different forms: heat waves, extreme cold snaps, powerful storms and cyclones, intense precipitation events, flooding, and drought. While such phenomena form part of the natural climate system, many scientists believe that global warming will increase their future intensity and frequency.
