It was the middle of January 1947 and Britain was about to be plunged intoits coldest winter of the twentieth century. But the 40,000 people who poured towards Cardiff Arms Park on a Saturday afternoon did so in anticipation of being warmed by the heat of renewed battle between Wales and England.
