ABSTRACT

Working in the factory dominated the rest of my life. I was so tired and had so little time that I needed the weekend to recuperate. I had little energy to go to meetings in the evening and was quickly irritated if they took more time than necessary or were conducted in an unbusinesslike way. There was no way I could keep up with my previous network of friends. Working permanently somewhere like UMEC would entail a complete change in my life-style-less free time, more regular domestic routine, and more centred on a smaller number of close friends.
