ABSTRACT

This book has analyzed some of the major ethical and legal issues raised by the participation of people with eating disorders in sports and fitness. There are other vulnerable clients, with known and unknown medical conditions, and for whom the exercise they take might not be as beneficial as they might think, or as beneficial as it is for the generally healthy person. Although the focus of this book has been eating disorders, the conclusions gesture towards the extension of these arguments for sports people who exercise to the detriment of their health and those with other health problems who choose to exercise at risk to themselves.
