ABSTRACT

A round-up of leadership and management roles in PCE, followed by a discussion of the principles of ‘servant leadership’, introduces the interview with Lynne Sedgmore, CEO of the CEL. Lynne sums up CEL’s role as the leadership college for the LSC sector, discusses the ‘servant leadership” model, her experience with values clarification, and stewardship of learning. She places students at the heart of everything, and asserts the values 106of authenticity, vulnerability, trust, honesty and Integrity In leadership, placing a high priority also on reflective time, the use of reflective tools and informed theoretical models. She views leadership as a performing art and feels that Senge’s idea of the learning organisation is particularly appropriate for educational leaders.
