ABSTRACT
Patrick Abercrombie’s post-war reconstruction plans after the 1939-45 war sought to address its housing crisis through a very different form of urban development than that in the aftermath of the 1914-19 war. As described in Chapter 2, the aim was to reduce the urban population density by rebuilding in new, modernist ways, whilst promoting the creation of new selfcontained towns in a ring around the capital.
