ABSTRACT

In the early morning hours of 14 March 2006 a woman reported that she had been raped by three men during a party in Durham, North Carolina. This all too frequent crime report quickly mushroomed into the media circus that became known as the Duke Lacrosse Rape Case. The subsequent prosecution ultimately culminated in the dismissal of all charges against members of the Duke University Lacrosse Team and the disbarment of Michael Nifong, the District Attorney of Durham County, North Carolina for prosecutorial misconduct.
