ABSTRACT
Multiplication is most easily understood as repeated addition, although unlike addition, one of the numbers in the algorithm is not a tangible quantity, bur part of the code that tells the child what operation to perform. For instance, 3 X 4 tells us that the job is to add three, four times over: 3+ 3+ 3+ 3.
