ABSTRACT

When bold people go to the North Pole or the South Pole, or fly over Mount Everest, or perform any such feat, there are always those who say ‘What is the use of it?’. Although it is not altogether easy to answer this question, most people are glad that such things should be done, and there are no complaints when public money is spent on them. I suppose we feel that nature has set a challenge to man, and that as human beings we all share some part of the glory when man meets the challenge successfully.
