ABSTRACT

In its official documents and declarations, the Russian Federation has always expressed its commitment to ‘collective’ – i.e. multilateral – approaches to settling international problems within the framework of international law. Such expressions can be found in all three official doctrinal papers of the Russian Federation – theMilitary Doctrine, the National Security Concept, and the Foreign Policy Concept.1 Although these three documents were adopted as early as 2000, the first year of Vladimir V. Putin’s presidency, so far they have not been replaced by any revised versions. Consequently, these documents officially remain in force, even though some of their parts seem to be, at least partially, outdated in practice.
