ABSTRACT

The seminal event of creation both precedes and continually enlivens human history. Within that history Hannah Arendt singles out three particular events that are antecedent to every life today yet present in the ‘givenness’ of each of our lives now and in the future. So each in its own way can be seen as contributing to the climate change crisis. They are: the discovery of America; the Reformation and the invention of the telescope.
