ABSTRACT

Undoubtedly, the most nerve-wracking part of any audition process is waiting to hear the result. I know it is easy for me to tell you that whenever you finish an audition, you should leave the room and forget all about it, and if you are able to do this near impossible feat, then all the better. Sometimes you will be told at the time if you are recalled or when a decision will be made. Most of the time, if the answer is negative, you will never hear another word (despite sometimes being told to the contrary). It is very tempting to frequently check your mobile and ansaphone for news, or to pester your agent or the casting director concerned on whether a decision has yet been made. The latter is really not a good idea, as not only does it make you look desperate, but can also profoundly irritate. I know people who have lost jobs from pestering members of the creative team – especially on home or mobile numbers, which they have somehow procured. I appreciate that the waiting game is a tough one, but please believe me, if the answer is positive, nobody would keep the information from you for any longer than they have to and you will always be told you have got the job – just make sure that your contact details are correct and up to date.
