ABSTRACT

Returning to the questions and hypotheses set out in Chapter 1, it is clear that Taiwan is actively involved in global systems in response to health developments and to natural or man-made disasters, using key governance elements identified in Chapter 2. It is involved strategically in ways that seek to advance its international standing and status. In the process, it invokes various global norms, and its aid programmes involve governance actors and organizations from the state, market and civil society alike.
