ABSTRACT

The focus of this chapter shifts to the project on ‘Bilingual Literacies for Learning in Further Education’ (BiLfLFE) (Dwyieithrwydd, Llythrennedd a Dysgu mewn Addysg Bellach), to the college in North Wales where this project was based – Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor – and to the lecturers and students in three curriculum areas: Agriculture, Early Years (Childcare) and Welsh (including Welsh as a first language and Welsh as a second language). The research design and research strategies for this bilingual project were broadly similar to those adopted for the larger project in England and Scotland. The only major difference was that the research was carried out bilingually. Thus, for example, two-thirds of the students (in our sample of forty-six) chose to be interviewed in Welsh.
