ABSTRACT

When you have considered and chosen your research methodology, as explored in the previous chapter, you will want to decide which datacollection techniques to use and plan how and when you will collect your data. You will then undertake the fieldwork, which is a challenging but usually very interesting part of the research process. Planning is key to undertaking and managing data collection, so this chapter will help you to think through some of the issues and practicalities associated with responsible and rigorous data collection. Analysis of your data is covered in Chapters 8 and 9 but forms an important part of the planning stage needed before embarking on your data collection, so we advise you to read both chapters together.
