ABSTRACT

On 10 September 2003, the Home Office's Anti-Social Behaviour Unit conducted a one-day audit of reports of anti-social behaviour within England and Wales. The research incorporated information collected by the police, local authorities, housing associations, voluntary organizations, the British Transport Police, the fire brigade, and the health services. In the chosen 24–hour period, 66,107 reports of anti-social behaviour were filed, amounting to one report of anti-social behaviour every two seconds (Home Office 2003b).
