It is important to note here, however, that the subject-matter of private law in Germany is dealt with in numerous secondary and special statutes (Neben-und Sondergesetze), apart from the BGB and the statutes relating to commercial and company law, e.g. in the fields of property and landlord and tenant law, employment law, traffic and public liability law, insurance and intellectual property law.3
