ABSTRACT
One of the main functions of the police is to investigate crimes and criminal activity. Their performance in this area is continually under examination by the government, the criminal justice system and the media. There is always a need to ensure criminal investigations are improving so as to make criminal investigations more professional. This chapter will consider the main areas being introduced to ensure that people who investigate crime do so professionally, with integrity and in an accountable manner.
