ABSTRACT

Lee Teng-hui’s visit to Cornell University in June 1995 was a watershed in several major ways. This visit not only changed ROC’s mainland policy and cross-strait relations, but changed the US role and US-PRC relations. The visit also transformed Taiwan’s internal political environment; and many of the problems today in Taiwan can be traced to the Cornell visit.
