ABSTRACT

Community correction refers to the general concept of alternative penalties to imprisonment, which deprives sentenced criminals of their personal freedom. It has been widely applied in Western countries since the 1960s and 1970s. Now it is a major means of criminal punishment, which covers over half the penalties of sentenced criminals in many countries. Since the second half of 2003, China has begun experiments on community correction. In this case, in light of the actual situations of the experiments in different provinces and cities, I will discuss the achievements, problems and anomalies of community correction through narration of the designated roles.
