ABSTRACT

Located alongside the Bohai, China, Tianjin City is a metropolitan area with a population of nearly 10 million. The various leading news media exposed on 14 June 2006 that, upon sampling and inspection, 60 per cent of wheat flour in Tianjin market contained potassium bromide (PB), a kind of carcinogenic chemical additive. This news shocked the citizens, who are used to regular lives. A battle gradually emerged concerning the contaminated wheat flour.
