ABSTRACT
By 1975, international organizations, prompted by the UN Decade for Women, had begun to look at the role and position of women in development. How far have they come since then? And what exactly did the Decade for Women accomplish? This chapter reviews the Decade for Women and the policies of the major international environmental and development organizations, and assesses their role with regard to women and environment.
