ABSTRACT

This chapter presents five generally applicable valuation techniques. Each of these techniques is in common use. The selection of the appropriate technique will be influenced by many factors including the effect to be valued and the availability of data, time and financial resources. The challenge, as outlined in Chapters 2 and 3, is to identify the environmental effects of the projects concerned and to incorporate correctly the valuation of their benefits and costs within the project analysis.
