ABSTRACT

The research presented here explores what lies behind the failure of ethnic minorities in the educational system and in social mobility, in a knowledgeeconomy-driven world in which education is a major route to social mobility. It is concerned primarily with an examination of the relationship between ethnicity and educational performance. This book argues that the failure to achieve inclusion of ethnic minorities of distinctive cultures is largely responsible for poor minority performance in education and social mobility; that is, cultural exclusion perpetuates ethnic minority inequality.
