ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to shed new light on the hidden potential of human nature by comparing the ketamine and near-death experiences. Are they identical? If not, what are the main similarities and differences? What can we learn from this? To help make the comparison, experiences that took place under three different circumstances were considered: (1) ketamine use; (2) cardiac arrest; and (3) various life-threatening circumstances in which subjects were awake (e.g. car accident, childbirth).
