ABSTRACT
When we turn from the countryside to the cities, woodfuel problems and the means of solving them change quite radically in scale and kind, as do the contexts in which these issues are set. This is particularly the case for the larger cities which, in Africa, account for most of the urban population and the most pressing energy problems.
