ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the institutional structures that will need to be put in place if member states are going to create a platform which integrates sustainability principles into public and societal decision making. The case studies in Chapter 7 provide the evidence of how land use and transport policy can be integrated and therefore sets benchmarks against which to monitor progress. In discussing the national structuring rules that will be required to kindle low energy transport futures through collaborative action at the city-region level specific examples from the Chapter 7 case studies will be used.
