ABSTRACT

There are no physical, neurological or laboratory tests that unequivocally correlate the symptoms of ADHD (Kidd 2000), and no matter how experienced or qualified the clinician, the diagnosis of ADHD is anything but straightforward. ADHD is a multifaceted disorder and no single discipline is likely to be competent to identify, assess and intervene alone (Williams and Salmon 2002). Diagnosis therefore becomes a mechanical feature in a holistic process involving a range of professionals (BPS 2000).
