ABSTRACT

Legal, ethical and good practice issues are important in determining the care and treatment decisions made by nurses, doctors and other professionals. Foreman (2006) describes a model for routine ethical practice by doctors which can easily be applied to nursing children and young people with ADHD. This is based on three key assumptions that should guide ethical practice decisions:

1 Ethical practice is consistent with the four principles of beneficence, non-maleficence, justice and a respect for autonomy.
