ABSTRACT

The AWOAMPC having been suspended during WWII, this section has no Committee activity to cover, nor does it attempt to summarise events referred to in D-Notices issued by the Ministry of Information. It does however allude briefly to those aspects of wartime activity, regulations, procedures, developments and personalities, which are relevant to the work and ethos of the Committee before and after the War. Censorship categories covered in Britain’s last major conventional war are outlined in Appendix 2; 1 those WWII Notices connected with the military and with secret intelligence are similar in coverage to Notices used since then in smaller wars and other operations covered by D-Notices.
