ABSTRACT

Pupils are different. They think and learn in different ways and with various degrees of success, they see the world differently and have different values, and some may have to interact with the world in different ways. You must do your best for all of them. As examples, this chapter describes different ways of learning, successful and unsuccessful learners, some gender effects, cultural differences, and disability and access to learning. It illustrates how you might do your best in such contexts. By the end of this chapter you will:

• know some common ways in which pupils are different; • know how to help particular pupils achieve more.
