ABSTRACT
T he original reason for the development and use of pesticide chemicals was to reduce crop losses to insects, fungi, and weeds, and so ensure better yields. The fact that crop yields need to be increased is accepted by all in the face of an ever increasing wrorld population, and as such this constitutes a norm. Pesticides represent one potential means of satisfying this norm, through the process sometimes referred to as ‘agromedicine’.
