ABSTRACT
The Community has adopted laws to protect European bird, animal and plant species and their habitats, to protect the Community’s forests from the dangers of air pollution and fire and to limit the size of drift nets used by fishing vessels in order to prevent marine mammals from being caught accidentally. The EC is also a party to a number of international agreements which aim to protect flora, fauna and their habitats throughout the world.
