ABSTRACT
If you did not receive your paper back by return of post because you failed to meet some obvious criterion for submissions to your target journal, you can expect to wait several weeks or even months before you hear from the editor. However, your manuscript might be returned almost immediately if you sent your paper to a journal, such as Nature or Science, that rejects 90 percent of submissions, most often without sending them out for review.
