ABSTRACT

It will be clear by now that the exchange process is about the genuine fusion of work: the creation of the new and the unique out of the collaboration of differences. You have been encouraged to stay as open as possible – for as long as possible – to all the opportunities that new inspirations from your twin group have offered. However, at a certain point along the way, the plays you are making will begin to take definite shape. You will have discovered the characters and their journeys, the general outline of the narrative, and the themes and issues that underpin the narrative. Soon, decisions will have to be made about the crafting of all this work into a coherent whole – something that will engage an audience for a specific period of time, with its own unique method of presentation. This chapter, and the following one, will offer some thoughts on how you might approach this.
