ABSTRACT

On June 25, 1996 a truck packed with over five thousand pounds of plastic explosives detonated outside the Khobar Towers complex in the densely populated urban environment of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. At the time, the Khobar Towers housed nearly half of the 2,500 US military forces based in Saudi Arabia, mostly US air force personnel. Nineteen US servicemen were killed in the blast and more than 500 other people were injured, 240 of whom were American.
