ABSTRACT
The experts have produced much more than the scientific and economic data which must be taken into account in implementing the FC. In this chapter we present a list of essential actions that have emerged from a major IIASA study (Nakićenović et al., 1993); IIASA is a leader in the field and has produced thorough and consistent analyses. In Figures 10.1 and 10.2 we present scenarios on future energy consumption and energy-related carbon emissions. In these figures IEW stands for International Energy Workshops (Manne and Schrattenholzer, 1992), EPA's RCW stands for the US EPA's Rapidly Changing World (EPA, 1990), ECS'92 stands for a scenario developed by the Environmentally Compatible Energy Project at IIASA (Nakićenović et al., 1993), and IS92c and IS92e stands for IPCC low and high scenarios (IPCC, 1992a).
