ABSTRACT
Sustainable development philosophy has become axiomatic in international development thinking. This chapter critically reviews the sustainable development philosophy of non-governmental organisations (NGOs). In important respects, the spectacular rise of NGOs is related to the rise of sustainable development approaches.
