ABSTRACT
Before students are introduced to value and exchange of money they need to be able to confidently recognise the coins that they are going to use. Coin recognition is a multisensory activity involving sight, touch and hearing. We identify coins in a variety of situations, for example, when we feel for them in our pockets, when we look for them in a purse, when we see them spread out before us and when we drop them on the floor.
