ABSTRACT

Activity 1 Students may work individually, or in pairs to stack the items in the ‘kitchen units’. 2 Encourage discussion on how the items will fit together on the shelves. Questions to

ask:

3 Discuss the spatial position of the items – above, below, inside, behind, on, and so on. 4 If students are unsure whether there are gaps, ask them to dip the end of the items in

the paint and then stack them on the shelves. (It is advisable to line the ‘shelves’ with newspaper first.) The items will leave prints on the newspaper, which can be lifted out from the ‘kitchen units’ and be examined in detail. Students can then see whether there are gaps or not.
