ABSTRACT
Students should be encouraged to estimate their answer, before measuring the items. It is important that you explain to them that they cannot be wrong when they estimate, as students will often be anxious about getting their answer ‘right’. Using the expression ‘Not quite, but nearly right’ will reduce the anxiety many students have about ‘exact answers’.
